About Me

I’ve always found finding a therapist is a little like finding the blend of tea that suits you best, sometimes you find it right away and sometimes you have to ‘shop around’. Given the courage it can take to seek support from a qualified counsellor, it feels sensible to tell you a little about myself to support your decision whether you want to get in touch and find out more.

I have worked most of my life within learning and development, where my focus has been on supporting people to consciously deploy behaviours which support their development and to adopt a healthy mindset in their roles which encourages change and fosters hope for future growth and possibility.

My curiosity in terms of how our minds both protect us and sometimes get in the way, led me to train as a hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner, where I ran a private practice for a few years; this supported me to embrace my naturally creative side, using storytelling and imagery to tap into unconscious processes.

"We feel more than we can think, and we live more than we can feel." Eugene Gendlin

I have experienced, whilst working in the NHS, the effect the pandemic has had on colleagues, how it has changed the way in which people view work with far higher burnout rates than before, alongside seeking greater meaning in their lives

The pandemic, although busy working at a GP surgery at the time, provided me with the opportunity to stop and reflect on my purpose in life and I felt a calling back to working not only with the mind but also our felt sense and spirit.

I re-trained as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor whilst working as Head of Learning and Development for Norfolk and Waveney Mind, developing mental health training programmes to both internal staff and the public to cultivate their mental health support skills including suicide awareness training and managing mental health in the workplace.

I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” C.G Jung

Central to my work is co-creating a relationship with you which feels safe to explore your needs with compassion, curiosity and challenge, building trust and developing a sense of hope and purpose.
